Don’t Ask Siri to Charge Your Phone… Seriously.

Before we explain, let this be made clear. We recommend that you do NOT try what we’re about to tell you.

Apparently, someone was bored enough to ask Siri to “charge my phone to 100 percent”. If one does this, it promptly dials emergency services. If you ask Siri to just “charge my phone”, it brings up the Favorites menu within the Phone app. This is all quite weird, and no one really knows why this happens. Perhaps it’s a glitch? Perhaps it’s some hidden emergency feature. Either way, it’s something that is worth knowing about so you don’t accidentally call 911 from by asking Siri to charge your phone to 100%. Angry Birds 2

Angry Birds 2 Announced

Well, we all knew it would happen. An “Angry Birds 2”. This name is quite deceiving, though, considering how many titles Rovio already has with the “Angry Birds” name. Nonetheless, this new game should be a hit among all Angry Birds fans. In Rovio’s words, it will be: “bigger, badder, and birdier”

We’ll have to wait and see what that means. It’s set to have a special event on July 28th, which should reveal more information about the title. It’s set to be released on the 30th. We are excited to see what this game contains! Let us know what you think below.

New iPod touch

NEW iPod touch Announced!

Yesterday, Apple announced the next generation of the iPod touch. It’s been over 390 days since the last iPod touch refresh, so it’s about time that Apple updates this product. With this iteration, they’ve packed in a lot more. First of all, let’s talk about colors. The new iPod touches come in these color variations: Silver, Gold, Space Gray, Pink, Blue, and Red.

Next, storage capacity. This generation of iPod touch will be available in 4 different storage capacities which are: 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB. These are priced from $199, $249, $299, and $399 respectively.
These new iPod touches feature 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi (they’re up-to-date and are capable of very fast speeds) and they also include Bluetooth 4.1.

We think that this update is a great one for the iPod touch. Apple desperately needed to update this lineup so we’re glad they’ve finally done it. Let us know below what you think about this update. Will you be picking up a new iPod touch? Drop a comment below.

New Features in iOS 9

WWDC 2015 just wrapped up recently so we thought we’d break down all of the new features of iOS 9. Here they are in no particular order:

Keyboard Changes: Finally, all letters on the keyboard are changed to uppercase if you press the caps button, and lowercase if the caps button is not pressed. This will make it a lot easier for people to type when they know if they’re in caps mode or not.

iCloud Drive: iCloud Drive can now be enabled inside of the settings application. This will allow you to see everything in you iCloud Drive account.

Siri: Siri has an all new, super clean look! (Similar to that of the Apple Watch).

Notes: Apple has updated the Notes app and it includes better image support and a new sketching option. It’s got tons of new features and we think you’ll be using it a lot more with iOS 9.

Settings Search: You can now search anything in settings using the search bar at the top of it.

Contacts: Contacts are now stored in the Proactive menu by swiping right, rather than in the app switcher.

Side Switch: On iPhone you can now use the side switcher to mute the phone as usual, or to lock rotation.

Passcode: By default, if you’d like to set a new passcode, it will now prompt you for a 6 digit passcode rather than a 4 digit one. However, you can still change that and set a 4 digit one instead if you’d rather have that.

Find My Friends/Find My iPhone: These apps are now built-in and not 3rd party. You can also view Find My Friends via a Notification Center Widget.

Battery: Oh boy, there’s a lot to write for this one. Using the proximity sensor and ambient light sensors, the iPhone can now sense if it’s face down. If, say, it’s face down on a table and you receive a notification, the screen will not turn on, so it will waste less battery. Other enhancements include the fact that you’ll be able to get about 1 extra hour of usage on your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus just from having iOS 9. On top of that, you can enable Low Power Mode to get up to 3 extra hours of battery life. In Low Power Mode, Mail is fetched manually, brightness and motion are reduced, network speeds may be reduced, and other things are lowered in the background to conserve even more battery.

Battery Settings: There’s a new section in the Settings app that is completely dedicated to battery. In this section, you can turn on the Low Power Mode, however you can also view which apps use the most or least amount of battery. Also, in Notification Center, you can now view the iOS device battery left as well as your Apple Watch battery power.

iOS 8.3 Now LIVE! Here’s What’s New!

iOS 8.3 just went live earlier today for the public. This long awaited update includes many stability improvements as well as Wireless CarPlay and a new Emoji keyboard. While many people will notice the new Emoji keyboard almost immediately, it’s important to note that Apple has now changed the spacebar on the keyboard when typing an address in on Safari. They have shrunk the “Go” button and elongated the spacebar which means you’re now much less likely to accidentally press a “.” when entering in a string of text to search on the internet (we all know how annoying that was).

Apple has also decided to change a few things in Passbook, like how they’ve separated Apple Pay and Passes so you don’t get them mixed up. One of the other smaller features which some (myself included) will enjoy is the ability to download and install free apps without entering a password. Now, we’ll list all of the changes, including those above, and smaller updates and fixes.

  • New Emoji Keyboard

  • Separated Apple Pay and Passes within Passbook
  • iCloud Photo Library no longer in Beta
  • In Photos app, albums display an icon to distinguish albums easier

  • iPhone 6 Plus exclusive: Bold, Italicized, and Underlined button on keyboard for better formatting.

– Fixes a bug where certain apps would not launch or update on family members’ devices

Power-Up – A New SHMUP by Playing With Giants

Power-Up by Playing With Giants plans to make its debut in the App Store on April 9th. The game will be available on all iOS devices and will have an introductory price of $2.99. Below we’re including the app/gameplay trailer. This game looks like it’s going to be an awesome horizontal shooter that has inspiration from R-type and Hellfire. Power-Up looks like it will be a hit when it is released, but in the meantime, check out the trailer and info below!

Gameloft, the developers of Modern Combat 5, have decided to push their Modern Combat 5 game to a free-to-play pricing model. The price of the app dropped today, from $3.99 to free. For those of you who have already purchased the game, no need to worry, Gameloft has decided to implement an “energy system” (you know, those annoying systems where you can play 5 times, and then have to wait 20 minutes to play again). However, if you’d already purchased the game, you will get unlimited energy. Not only this, but you’ll also get a special “veteran kill-sign”, as well as 200 in-game credits. Still, many players will still probably be irked by the fact that the game is now completely free (with IAPs), but at least they’ll be slightly compensated.
